Rural tourism as the strategic direction of diversification of operating activities of agricultural sector entities of Odessa region

Abstract

Introduction. In terms of activation of risks of market environment there is a need to objectively differentiate the operating activities of the agrarian sector. Its promising trend in modern realities has become the development of green tourism that forms favorable conditions for improving risk management strategies of entrepreneurial activity of agricultural enterprises, contributes to rural employment and solving of the critical social and economic problems of the Ukrainian village. The theoretical, methodological and applied aspects of assessing the economic benefits which are associated with the provision of rural tourism as a priority direction of differentiation of operating activities of the Odessa agrarian sector have become the subject of the research.

Purpose. The aim of the study is a comprehensive assessment of the main economic benefits arising from the establishment and development of green tourism as a promising direction of differentiation of agricultural units operating activity of Odessa region.

The method (methodology). A set of methods and techniques for systematization and generalization of modern scientific views on selected issues, the research of specific features of solving of the objectives and the conceptual foundations for achieving the goal of the work have become the methodological base of the research.

Results. The scientific works have shown that Odessa region is one of the largest agro-administrative units of Ukraine. It has favorable conditions and resources for creation of agro-tourist products. The tourists have increased the amount of costs for the green tourism. That contributes to solving acute problems of rural development. The main economic benefits which are associated with the development of green tourism are defined: contribution to GDP, the positive impact on the balance of payments, additional revenues in taxes, foreign exchange earnings, additional sources of investment, the overall multiplier effect. The main factors that reduce the effect of differentiating the operating activities of the agrarian sector in the region are revealed: the poor state of rural social infrastructure; low quality and low categorizing of green estates, low quality of life of the rural population, imperfection of legislation base and the lack of strategic development of programs of this activity.
