Asymmetry of global economic development

Abstract

Introduction. The world economy has passed a long way of development. The historical overview shows that the transition of the system to a new stage of development is accompanied by transformations. Global transformations have opened new opportunities of development for the countries, but at the same time they deepened the existing asymmetry. A lot of changes have taken place in the worl. They have become global as for the impact, but as for the result they have not ensured sustainable economic growth and development. Under such conditions the issues of overcoming of asymmetries of global economic development have become actual. The latest theoretical principles and practical aspects of manifestation of its asymmetries have become the subject of the study

Purpose. The article aims to identify the characteristics of global economic development and expression of their asymmetries as for the countries with different levels of development under the influence of global transformations. The following objectives have been formulated: to summarize current approaches to understanding the asymmetries of the global economic development; to reveal basic problems of global economic development; to analyze the existing asymmetries in global economic development in the following areas: economic, social, informational; to ground the importance of their overcoming in the economic development of countries.

Methods (methodology). The methodological basis of the study is the dialectical method of scientific knowledge. In this study we have used the general scientific and applied specific methods. The most significant mathods are as the following: the methods of system approach, analysis, synthesis, generalization, comparison and also econometric methods, graphical method.

Results. The trends of global economic development, which are embodied in deepening of asymmetries between countries are revealed. It has been established the objectivity of asymmetry of global development. The main types are analysed. The role of social factor in their overcoming is grounded.
