Statistical analysis of external trade of the Volyn region

Abstract

Introduction. The need for analytical research of the process of establishing and further development of the dynamics of cross-border economic and other types of foreign economic cooperation of the Volyn region with the countries-partners in the context of their foreign trade is no doubt under the conditions of formation of new contemporary challenges and the strengthening of European integration aspirations of Ukraine.

Purpose. The aim of the article is to conduct statistical research of Volyn region foreign trade, to outline the main trends of the modern state and prospects of development of foreign economic activity of the region.

Method (methodology). In the study we have used the methods of comparison, grouping, generalization, and statistical methods, the necessity of which is determined by the purpose and objectives of the study: absolute and relative values, tabular, graphical, trend analysis development.

Results. The article analyses the external trade by goods and services of Volyn region. The paper investigates the export and import operations of the region in dynamics, its geographical and commodity structure, the relative indicators of foreign trade activity, its intensity and efficiency. It has been determined that during 2010-2013 it was a clear trend of growth of foreign trade of the Volyn region.  It is foundout that in 2014-2015 the foreign trade turnover of the region was characterized by a significant reduction of its volume due to the economic and political situation in the country. It should be noted, that it was the first time since 2000 that the region received a positive balance of the foreign trade. The prospects of foreign economic activity of the region can be determined as the development of tourist and recreational activities, increasing of the export potential and deepening of the processes of cross-border cooperation and European  integration.
