The place and role of agrarian education in the knowledge economy formation

Abstract


Introduction. In modern society, which is indeed a transition state from industrial to post-industrial one, the efficient functioning of the economy requires highly skilled specialists. Modern problems of economic development are connected with the highest priority to the processes of producing new knowledge that can ensure social and economic progress of the Ukrainian society. The knowledge economy involves the creation of a brand – new type of specialists with higher education and rethinking of scientific and educational paradigm of higher education. Knowledge and skills which have been obtained during training are the basis of intellectual potential of society, which is a determining factor in the formation of knowledge economy.

Goal. Determination of the place and role of agricultural education in the development of the knowledge economy and generalization of their main results have become the aim of the article. 

Results.The concept of education is considered. It is established that the basic principles of development of higher agricultural education in the transition to the knowledge economy should be the following ones: accessibility, quality, continuity and innovation. The analysis of activity of higher educational establishments of Ukraine is carried out. The features and characteristics of continuous education, as well as the main reasons for the need of modernization of education in conditions of formation of knowledge economy are shown in this research.
