Abstract

Introduction. At the present stage processes of integration and globalization have become more and more important in the global economic, political, social and cultural space. By this time, the concept of "economic integration" has no unambiguous interpretation. Therefore we have tried to summarize existing concepts that are relating to different sides of "economic integration" and allow to develop different areas of its analysis.

Purpose. The aim of the article is to study the major theoretical approaches to the definition of international economic integration and development of scientifically-based definition of the economic category. To achieve this goal the following tasks have been solved:generalization of historical aspects of the emergence of the concept of economic integration and the evolution of its application;critical analysis of the main approaches to the definition of international economic integration;further development of the theory of international economic integration between countries by developing comprehensive definition of the "international economic integration".

Methodology.  In this research we have used the following methods of theoretical generalization: method of analysis and synthesis (for the isolation of the main approaches to the definition of economic integration); historical method (for consideration of the concept of economic integration); method of comparison (for the delimitation the concepts of globalization and integration); method of induction and of theoretical generalization (for the development of a comprehensive definition of international economic integration).

Results. During the research it has been conducted a critical analysis of current theoretical approaches to the interpretation of the nature and components of international economic integration. The article summarizes the features of determining limits of integration on the basis of historical views of such economic schools as neoliberalism, korporatsionalizm, structuralism, neo-Keynesianism and dyryzhyzm. We have determined the levels of integration: at the macro level it means international economic integration; at the micro it means the economic integration of enterprises. The the differences and levels of integration and globalization are determined. It is suggested the structural approach to define these categories. The definition of international economic integration taking into account the features of modern integration processes in the society is roposed. The main results of such an integration should provide for all participants in this process.
