Analysis of world experience of transport and logistics centers management

Abstract

Introduction. Current trends in international trade are related to the creation and distribution of transport and logistics centers. Foreign practice shows that the transport and logistics centers are the most successful forms of international cargo transportation. These centers provide the possibility of combining modes of transport and present a wide range of related services. The action of the effect of scale in these centers provides significant cost reduction and, consequently, prices reduction of transport and logistics services. However, in Ukraine, the share of transport and logistics centers in the general transportation and logistics provider edoes not exceed 5%.

Purpose. The purpose of the article is to analyze an international experience, as well as prerequisites of the development of national transport and logistics centers.

Method (methodology). The comparative methods of analysis, synthesis, abstraction, induction and deduction, theoretical generalization are used in the study. The methodological basis of the study is the dialectical method of investigation.

Results. The study has concluded that difference in the interpretation of the definition of "transport and logistics center" is due to the presence of varieties of transport and logistics centers, as well as the specifics of the operation based on the country location. In this regard the types of transport and logistics centers, and especially in the operation and management of international transport and logistics centers of developed European and Asian countries are analized. On the basis of the results of the analysis, the author has found out the main competitive advantages of leading international transport and logistics centers, as well as prerequisites of transport and logistics centers of international importance in Ukraine.
