Current problems of inventory of museum objects

Abstract

Introduction. In recent years, the questions of conservation of museum collections are highly relevant. It is primarilyconnected with the political and economic situation in the country, as well as problems in the museum field. The troubleshooting will protect museum objects from theft, substitution, destruction and etc. In particular, it applies to the need to improve the organization and methods of checking the status of museum objects, i. e. their inventory.

Purpose. The research aims to identify the issues inventory of museum objects in terms of regulatory framework and justification of possible areas of improvement of organizational basis of such inventory.

The method (methodology). In this research we have used the following methods to address this goal: method of analysis and synthesis, logic synthesis method, method of analogies, method of comparative mapping.

Results. The organization and method of inventory exhibits in accordance with applicable regulations and the necessity of improving the process of inventory have been investigated. The peculiarities of the usage of the concepts of "inventory of museum objects", "verification exhibits availability of stock, the accounts museum", "museum inventory values" have been determined. The proposals to harmonize terminology of normative legal acts of Ukraine are worked out. The authors have worked on the proposals and recommendations on the frequency of inventory; inventory exhibits sent for temporary storage to another legal or natural person; procedure of registration and annual verification of exhibits topographical descriptions; process of formation of inventory commissions; presentation of results of inventory; procedure of determination of the amount of losses from theft, shortage, destruction, damage exhibits. Fundamental research issues that are brought to a focus in the article have become the key to improving inventory procedure exhibits.
