Main elements of the resource potential of agricultural enterprises as the basis of economic and food security

Abstract


Introduction. The article analyses the main elements of the resource potential of agricultural enterprises of Ukraine, as well as provides practical recommendations for improving the efficiency of their use. The study conducted a theoretical and practical study of the efficiency of land, labour and material resources of agriculture. In particular, the economic essence of the resource potential and its composition are substantiated, the area of agricultural lands in Ukraine for 2000-2019 is analysed, the number of employed population, labour productivity and the average level of wages in agriculture are studied. It is established that the development of the agricultural sector is one of the most important sectors of the economy that determines the level of food security of the country. The efficiency of agro-industrial production determines the socio-economic and environmental situation in the country, in which all its citizens are stably and guaranteed to be provided with food in the required quantity, range and quality.

Purpose. The purpose of the article is to study the economic essence of the resource potential of agriculture and the effectiveness of its use as a basis for economic and food security of the country.

Method (methodology). The methodological basis of the study is the scientific work of foreign and domestic scientists on the issues of efficient use of resource potential, including resource potential of agriculture. Dialectical, systemic and synergetic approaches were used at all stages of the study; methods of general scientific cognition: comparison, analysis and synthesis, induction and deduction. Statistical analysis was used as specific methods.

Results. Resource potential, as a set of production, financial and organizational resources is the basis of economic security of the enterprise and food security of the country. The presence of competitive advantages due to the conformity of resource potential, ie material, financial, personnel, technical and technological potential and organizational structure of the enterprise to its strategic goals and objectives and is the economic security of the enterprise. The level of economic security of an agricultural enterprise is influenced by internal and external factors. Among the internal factors should be noted the technical level and strategy of production, the state and dynamics of human resources, the level of solvency and financial stability, the availability of modern methods of organizing the production of competitive products, the availability of emergency response systems. External factors influencing the level of economic security include the economic situation in the external environment, including international, the impact on the company of instruments of state legal regulation and support, supply and demand prices in factor markets, the state of the financial sector and labour market.
