Global monopolization of the world energy resources market

Abstract

The article investigates the processes of global energy market monopolization as one of the largest segments of the global commodity market.

As a result of the research it has been disclosed the modern nature of the oil and gas TNC with the justification for their dominant role in the exploration, production, refining, transportation and sale of energy products. Detailed analysis of oil and gas companies positions at the global commodity market, that has been done in the article indicates that they are (oil and gas companies) not in inhomogeneous base. They include three main groups by scale measure and level of activity diversification, the degree of the government involvement in capital, types of organization and manufacture structures and also levels and mechanisms of governmental activity regulation. The first group is being presented by the largest oil and gas companies that specialize mainly on the extraction of energy resources. The second group is presented by the world energy market operators that belong to specialized public and private not-integrated oil and gas companies as well as companies that operate as a part of major energy and chemical companies. The third group of transnational structures of the global energy market are vertically integrated oil and gas companies that belong to public and private forms of ownership, which, with a help of  large-scale investment activities operate in their home countries and in a host country.

Also in the article the main directions of modernization of strategies of energy companies have been analyzed. It has been determined the level of their market capitalization and transnationalization. Among the main tasks of the research we can single out the necessity to analyze the processes of global market of monopolization of energy resources, and the need to assess the extent of the activities of the leading oil companies in the world, the requirement to analyse their classification and development prospects.
