Analysis of foreign public debt in Ukraine: structure, dynamics, redemption

Abstract

The article estimates the pressure of public external debt on the Ukrainian economy. The object of study is the external public debt and its characteristics in the context of financial stability and economic development in Ukraine.

Research methodology is based on the use of analytical, statistical and logical methods, structure-factor and comparative analysis. Based on the analytical and statistical methods in the paper it is analyzed the decomposition of the external public debt in Ukraine by types of lenders and borrowers, by exchange, by type of debt. On the basis of structural factor analysis of the dynamicsit has been made an estimation of maintenance of costs and repayment of public debt in the structure of government expenditure, as well as calculaton of the cost of employable persons in Ukraine. On the basis of comparative analysis it has been determined the trend of the debt security of Ukraine: the ratio of payments for debt service to exports ratio of debt to exports, debt-to-revenue, debt-to-GDP ratio of short-term debt to total debt. On the basis of logic method the prospects for financial stability and economic development of the Ukrainian economy are determined.
