The role and place of the commercial banks on the capital markets of Ukraine

Abstract

The article is devoted to the banking transactions in the capital market and analysis of scales of activity of commercial banks in the capitals market of Ukraine.  The basic types of operations of commercial banks in the capital market are analyzed.  The characteristics to assess the main types of transactions are designed. Using these characteristics there has been made a comparative analysis of bank operations in the capital market. The dynamics of bank shares and bond emissions in relevant segments of the capital market is analyzed. A comparative analysis of the scope and structure of long-term loans for banks and non-banking financial institutions has been carried out. The research is conducted with the use of the methods of induction, the historical method, logic and scientific method of comparison. The results of research can be used in the studying of financial markets and the capital market, in particular, in analyzing of banking in general and banking activities on capital market in particular. Also, the results of the study can be applied for the study of the corporate bond market, shares, credit market in general, and long-term credit market. The comparative characteristic of banking operations in the capital market is worked out. The indicators of the dynamics, structure of the shares and bonds markets, and the dynamics of bank share and bond issues are analyzed. There has been made the comparison of long-term loans, received by banks, and non-bank financial institutions. As a result the dominant place of commercial banks on the capital market has been confirmed.
