Methods of forecasting of regional economic development

Abstract

The article considers the essence of the main methods of forecasting of socio-economic development of the region. The article provides the analysis of a diverse range of forecasting methods, based on which a generalizing classification scheme of the basic methods of forecasting economic development of the region has been developed. The role and importance of the leading forecasting methods have been defined. The specifics of their application in the conditions of modern Ukraine are highlighted. The basic advantages of these methods are defined, combining both economic and mathematical modeling and development scenarios. According to the results of the research the functional role of the economic and mathematical and other methods of forecasting of the economic development has been defined. Which is to identify the principles and internal logic of regional economy formation, to determine its structure and elements, their interrelationships and functioning mechanisms that can be the basis for development of purpose-oriented and comprehensive regional programs and of forecasting the future state of certain sectors of economy, etc.
