Analysis of the validity of informatization and computerization of agricultural enterprises

Abstract

 Introduction. Recently, the domestic branch of agriculture is characterized by a sharp decline in production technology, physical and moral deterioration of equipment, insufficient level of productivity and growth of its cost, low production efficiency, slowing of investment and innovation processes. To a large extent these processes have been caused by the insufficient level of information support of farms and computerization of business processes. The use of modern information technology comparing with the traditional agriculture has a significant advantage of the speed and quality of data transferring, improves accumulation, analysis and use of information. Ultimately, the the increase in computerization of information provides timely adoption of reasonable administrative decisions, helps to apply and effectively use information technology in farm management.

Purpose. The aim of the study is to assess the reasonableness of management decisions by farms leadership in the field of information and computerization of business.

Methodology. The results of questionnaire farm managers of Zhytomyr region have been used as initial data. The degree of connection between the factor and effective signs has been determined on the basis of the results of the correlation analysis. It has been carriedout the according to following groups of factors: 1) the number of computers and the number of employees; 2) the number of employees and the use of computer networks; 3) the number of employees and the existence of its own website; 4) maintenance of electronic records and availability of computer networks; 5) availability of own site and the expected effect from computerization and informatization of sales of own products; 6) directions of the Internet usage and expected changes a result of use of information technologies. The basis of the analysis is paired correlation coefficients and correlation indices.

Results. The estimation of informatization and computerization of certain areas of agricultural enterprises in Zhytomyr region has been done. It has been proved the existence of a direct link between the size of the company and its level of computerization. It has been found no association between the list of business areas within which agricultural enterprises introduce information and computer technologies, and economic areas in which leadership expects significant positive change in the case of the development of processes involved. The main problems of use of Internet technologies in agricultural enterprises are identified.
