Assessment of status and threats to economic security in Ukraine

Abstract

Introduction. The economic security of the country, on the one hand, is an important component of national security, which forms the protection of national interests. On the other hand it is a ncessary condition of compliance and realization of national interests as for the providing funding, formation of income, and expenses. Significant deterioration in forecasts of economic development of Ukraine which are made by international organizations and national governments and public agencies indicate a high likelihood of threats to economic security. These threats are specified in key policy documents.

Purpose. The aim of the article is to identify trends in external and internal environment that determine key risks to economic security of Ukraine; to submit directions to minimize threats in terms of external aggression against Ukraine.

Results. The inner reasons of possible aggravation of the situation in Ukraine are revealled. The characteristic trends in financial and economic sphere of Ukraine are characterized. Among them we can single out the critical slowdown of economic growth, deepening of industrial decline, gaining total character of economic loss, loss of investment attractiveness in terms of external aggression, threatening reduction in effective demand, increase of the shadow economy and its forced militarization. The prospects of economic development of Ukraine in 2015-2016 have been grounded.
